Byron Cole, who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, said the group got a warm welcome when it arrived.
“It's kind of the welcome we never got.”
East Grand Forks police chief Mike Hedlund is among the volunteers who will accompany the veterans. He's a first-timer, but he's helped welcome returning flights before. He said "there have been hundreds of people welcoming them home."
