About this event

Praised by The Strad magazine and The New York Times , internationally renowned cellist Amit Peled is acclaimed as one of the most exciting and virtuosic instrumentalists on the concert stage today. Having performed in many of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., Salle Gaveau in Paris, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Konzerthaus Berlin, Peled has released over a dozen recordings on the Naxos, Centaur, Delos, and CTM Classics labels. Musical America named Peled one of the Top 30 Influencers of 2015. This is a return performance by the artist who will be dedicating the concert to the memory of Laurel Reuter, someone he considered a dear friend and mentor.

“A glowing tone, a seductive timbre and an emotionally pointed approach to phrasing that made you want to hear him again.” — The New York Times

“Fiery and intelligent, Peled really shone in a bold and dramatically conceived interpretation.” — The Strad

“Simply gorgeous sound.” — The Baltimore Sun

“He has the flair of the young Rostropovich.” — American Record Guide

“Peled gave one of the most sensitive and emotional performances I have ever heard.” — Classical Voice of North Carolina

Peled will be accompanied by pianist Solomon Eichner. Originally from Baltimore, Solomon is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Peabody Conservatory. Solomon is the pianist in Aurora Musicalis chamber ensemble. When not performing over 100 solo concerts a year, Solomon maintains a faculty position for the North Carolina Chamber Music Institute.
