A North Dakota couple from Barney remains stranded in Puerto Vallas because travel restrictions due to cartel-related unrest have halted their charter flight and they are coordinating with a travel agent to return home by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Two weeks ago, the Grand Forks School Board approved a reduction of over 13 full-time staff and a $4.4 million budget cut.

Dr. Terry Brenner said the measure addresses a budget shortfall discovered last September at Grand Forks Public Schools.

North Dakota lawmakers have funded a law school clinic at the University of North Dakota to help foreign workers with work visas—even as federal restrictions add uncertainty.
