The University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences was recognized at a Washington event on Thursday for adding nutrition training to its curriculum as federal officials push reform nationwide (Sen. Kevin Cramer attended and state lawmakers advanced similar programs).

The EPA repealed the 2024 mercury emissions rule for coal-fired power plants, restoring a 2012 standard that benefits local lignite plants.

Officials said the change supports affordable power and allows periodic emissions checks — ensuring clean air remains a priority.
