CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An Eddy County man (Kyle Kahalehili Maez-Schaack, 32, of New Rockford) pleaded guilty to five charges including three Class C felonies for reckless endangerment, fleeing a police officer, and criminal mischief causing damage between $2,000 and $10,000 after fleeing from a Grand Forks County deputy in May 2024, and he was sentenced to four years in jail with two years of supervised probation and could face six more years if he breaks probation rules. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Kelly Armstrong said the application deadline for school, community and church musical groups is extended until April 14 for joining the Governor’s Official State Programs for 2025-2026—groups must include a musical recording, references and materials for review by the Governor and First Lady who will choose two acts based on talent, achievement and community involvement. - ➤ Spirit Lake Nation partnered with the Bureau of Indian Affairs to boost its police force on a 400 square mile reservation — only four officers were on duty as hiring challenges and budget limits kept the force from reaching the allowed 17. Valley News Live
