  • UND Police Officer Cpl. Jose Solis and civilian Matthew Smith received the Life Saving Medal for stopping a potential tragedy on University Avenue overpass above I-29 on July 17, 2025 (they were honored on April 2).  Knox News Radio

  • UND hockey has been a celebrated phenomenon for nearly a century in Grand Forks, producing professionals+Olympians and national champions in its historic hockey palace; the legacy continues with community support for hockey excellence.  Knox News Radio

ECONOMY NEWS

  • North Dakota Grain Growers Association is asking federal policymakers to change rules on a loan program so farmers can store fertilizer on-site amid rising costs and supply shortages; the new rules would help ensure timely fertilizer use by crops.  Knox News Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • Essentia Health urges families to schedule sports physicals this spring so student-athletes can be cleared to play next school year. In North Dakota, exams completed on or after Apr. 15 are valid for the upcoming school year, so providers recommend booking at least six weeks before the season begins.  Valley News Live

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Grand Forks Spitfires announced the signing of outfielder Addie Craig from Washington to strengthen their roster for the inaugural 2026 season. Craig, known for her defensive skill and reliability, will play in the season opener on June 9 at Albrecht Field.  Knox News Radio
  • Weather and field issues led to cancelled Eastern Dakota Conference baseball games for Grand Forks Central and Red River. Both teams will start their seasons at the Border Battle in Sioux Falls this weekend and have 36 days to complete schedules before the tournament on May 19.  Knox News Radio
  • It has been 10 years since UND last reached the Frozen Four as the team faces Wisconsin tonight at 4 p.m. on ESPN2; a win will send them to the national championship scheduled for tomorrow.  Valley News Live
  • UND Fighting Hawks lost to Wisconsin in the Frozen Four semifinal on Friday, Apr. 3 at 6:00 p.m. Both teams played hard+ the game ended with a decisive loss for the Hawks.  Valley News Live
