ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On April 11th, the City of Grand Forks received a report of a red substance spilling into English Coulee and it was later identified as Glycol leaking from a stormwater line at an Altru Health System clinic—local officials have contained most of the Glycol although some residual may remain in the line. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The North Dakota House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 2159 to let the Energy and Environmental Research Center in Grand Forks study nuclear energy, and the bill returned to the Senate. The House vote was 57—32 following a 45—2 Senate approval. Knox News Radio
- ➤ North Dakota's Legacy Fund lost about $1 billion in value last week as the stock market plunged — interim executive director Jodi Smith testified at a Senate Appropriations hearing that the investments are managed to withstand market swings. Knox News Radio
- ➤ North Dakota Sen. Keith Boehm faced pushback from lawmakers on Thursday when he told the House Appropriations Committee about Senate Bill 2307— a law that would require school and public libraries to put books marked as sexually explicit in harder to reach places and could cost the state $2 million through 2029. Lawmakers said the bill used old data and did not ask librarians for their input. Knox News Radio
