North Dakota University System Chancellor Mark Hagerott announced today he will retire at the end of April (he originally planned to step down at the end of 2025 and take up a teaching role) to focus on national security work.

On Friday the City of Grand Forks received a report of a glycol spill in English Coulee — the substance came from an Altru Health clinic’s storm water line.

City officials contained the non-toxic spill and said any residual glycol in the line will take a couple of days to clear.

North Dakota legislators have debated House Bill 1318 that would limit cancer lawsuits against makers of farm chemicals like Roundup.

The bill—backed by agricultural groups—is set to go to the Senate for a vote in the coming days.

North Dakota lawmakers passed Senate Bill 2137 that stops the Game and Fish Department from banning bait for deer hunting on private property—this vote supports hunters despite the department’s warning that feeding bans help slow the spread of chronic wasting disease.

The House approved the bill after rejecting an amendment, following the Senate’s passage of the same version.

The North Dakota House Appropriations Committee voted 22-1 to recommend a do-not-pass on a bill that would require school and public libraries to move books marked as sexually explicit out of easy reach of minors — the committee also rejected an amendment by Sen. Keith Boehm to exempt an online library database at an estimated cost of $2 million over four years.

Fargo native Tom Hoge finished tied for 14th at the 89th Masters after scoring a 1‐under 71 on Sunday while ending the week at 3‐under—a personal best compared to his tie for 39th in 2022.

He also made a hole-in-one during the Masters Par 3 Contest.
