- ➤ A Fargo man said he and his wife lost almost $1,000—paid as a deposit for window work—after DaBella door-to-door salespeople visited their home near Madison Elementary in August 2024 and then stopped responding, warning others as he plans to seek help in small claims court if he is not refunded. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ House lawmakers cleared their backlog by approving three amended bills and sending them to Governor Kelly Armstrong—one bill sets mandatory minimum sentences for human trafficking, another updates stalking laws to ban drone harassment, and a third allocates $1.5M to county fairs with a matching requirement. Armstrong had signed 358 bills as of Tuesday and more key measures are still awaiting his review. Valley News Live
- ➤ Today, the North Dakota Senate rejected House Bill 1408, which would have made lawmakers meet every year with shorter sessions, so the legislature will stick with its every-other-year schedule. Some senators said that while annual sessions might let lawmakers react faster to global changes in agriculture and energy—concerns related to term limits—these ideas will be watched in the coming sessions. - ➤ Today Secretary of State Michael Howe warned that some groups are charging North Dakota businesses and non-profits more than the required fee for annual report filings, which should range from $10 to $50. The reports are accepted immediately through the First Stop portal, although those charging extra claim the process takes longer. Valley News Live
