COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Daniel Conway, an Army veteran in hospice care, took part in a virtual tour of the ND/MN Veterans Honor Flight by using a VR headset provided by the flight team. His participation allowed him to share in the welcome home experience planned for 229 veterans who will travel to Washington, D.C. April 20-22.  Valley News Live

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Window World offered advice to help homeowners avoid contractor scams after a Fargo man reported being ghosted by a window company. Carter Broer and Corey Janes stressed that checking online reviews (a sign of a company’s reliability) and speaking with real people can help protect against fraud.  Valley News Live

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Armstrong signed a baiting bill that stops the Game and Fish Department from restricting baiting on private lands when chronic wasting disease is detected. Supporters said the bill defends landowner rights—critics warned it may weaken efforts to control disease spread.  Valley News Live
  • Lawmakers approved changes to Senate Bill 2004 that would require the Ethics Commission to dismiss complaints older than 180 days if the bill is signed. Executive Director Rebecca Binstock warned that the change could let ethical issues go unsolved — a risk that may allow problems to grow.  Knox News Radio
  • NDDOT's 2024 preliminary numbers showed that impaired driving accounted for 21% of driving fatalities—a 10% drop from 2023—and reported 19 alcohol-related deaths compared to 38 last year, with improved ride options and the Vision Zero initiative helping reduce incidents.  Valley News Live
  • The state Senate passed an incentive funding package for agriculture projects to support the planned Agristo potato processing plant in Grand Forks — the bill now goes to the state House for further review.  Knox News Radio
