EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The North Dakota House voted 78-14 against Senate Bill 2400, a proposal to create Education Savings Accounts for public and homeschool students, after Gov. Kelly Armstrong vetoed a related bill. House Majority Leader Mike Lefor said the plan’s high cost—$110 million—helped kill the measure and he does not expect a similar proposal to be reintroduced this session. Knox News Radio

- ➤ Trooper James Myers III was awarded the NDHP Distinguished Service Medal for his brave actions on March 23 in Grand Forks County—officers responded to a shooting in Larimore when a spouse drove into the home to reach her husband while an armed suspect fired at officers, and Myers helped secure the scene and take the gunman into custody. - ➤ U.S. Representative Julie Fedorchak will hold a telephone town hall meeting on May 1 at 7 p.m. for constituents to discuss legislative issues — interested residents must register by noon on May 1. Knox News Radio
