Gov. Kelly Armstrong ordered all state agencies to fly the U.S. and North Dakota flags at half-staff on Sunday, May 4 in honor of Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.
He also urged residents to display the flags at homes and businesses as a tribute, following state law and a presidential directive.
North Dakota House Majority Leader Mike Lefor said a conference committee reached an agreement on a property tax relief and reform bill that provides a $1,600 primary residence tax credit — the bill also maintains a 3% cap on future increases in local property tax budgets, and Lefor expects Governor Kelly Armstrong to sign it soon.
