On Sunday afternoon, the Grand Forks Fire Department responded to a home on 9th Ave North where unattended cooking sparked visible flames and thick smoke and the homeowner used a garden hose to control the fire—causing kitchen damage and light smoke damage on the main floor while all residents and pets remained safe as crews coordinated with police and ambulance.

Former state senator Tom Campbell—whose family built the Campbell Farms potato enterprise—was appointed as North Dakota’s USDA Rural Development state director.
He brings real estate and banking experience as he will support rural housing, water, and internet projects in the state.
Governor Armstrong met with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to discuss how North Dakota is working with federal and industry partners—focusing on natural resource protection and energy development—while he signed a pesticide labeling bill that helps local farmers access crop protection tools.
