COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Emerado Schools are hosting a makeshift food pantry on school grounds after the local facility closed early in 2026. The school is also reducing food waste while assistant fire chief Cordilayne Meyer aims to return to her role in September or October.  Knox News Radio
  • East Grand Forks is hosting Resident Spring Cleanup week from May 18-22, with free extra trash pickup on Street Maintenance Day; police advise against scavenging, and a hazardous waste & electronics drop-off is set May 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Public Works Building.  Knox News Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • Plans to transform the former AMC theater in Grand Forks into an entertainment destination are moving forward as developers finalize concepts and local leaders review proposals. The project is expected to open in the coming months.  Valley News Live

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UND asked the State Board of Higher Education to consider two construction projects — one to replace a fiber optic cable at Grand Forks Airport for $1.35 million and the other to upgrade Harrington Hall’s security corridor for $1.8 million, with the Budget and Finance Committee reviewing the requests today.  Knox News Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Grand Forks should expect delays today as crews limit North Washington Street to one lane each way between 1st and 8th Avenues for core sampling and reduce traffic on South Columbia Road near 24th Avenue for pavement repairs that will last into mid-July.  Valley News Live

  • Grand Forks Red River will host an Eastern Dakota Conference baseball tournament game today against Sheyenne, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m. at Kraft Field after finishing fourth in the regular season.  Knox News Radio
  • After tie-breakers — which left them third among four tied teams — the Roughriders finished as the three seed behind Horace in the Eastern Dakota Conference, and Red River will host Fargo North today.  Knox News Radio
