- ➤ On May 30, Land O’Lakes donated nearly 40,000 pounds of macaroni and cheese to the Great Plains Food Bank—this shipment will soon be distributed to local food shelves to help fight hunger. Valley News Live

CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Grand Forks man pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to 46 months in prison with credit for time served—his sentence also includes 3 years of supervised release, a $100 fine, and forfeiture of his gun and ammunition after he pulled a gun on gas station employees in August 2024. - ➤ The North Dakota Sheriff’s and Deputies Association said DHS mischaracterized several rural counties as sanctuary jurisdictions for illegal immigrants — they claim the list was compiled using unclear criteria and without notifying the counties. - ➤ This week, representatives from the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, Spirit Lake Nation and three tribal citizens asked the full 8th Circuit Court of Appeals for an en banc rehearing after a three-judge panel ruled they lacked standing to sue over a 2021 redistricting plan that may have diluted Native voting power + the tribes argue the decision weakens their representation and could force future changes in district maps. - ➤ Four local teams earned spots in state championship play after winning Friday’s semifinal games — Thompson beat Northern Cass 4-3 and LaMoure-Litchville/Marion upset Park River Area 7-4 in Class B Baseball, while Sheyenne Mustangs and Central Cass won 6-5 and 9-2 in their contests. Today the championship games begin with first pitch at 7 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field, the Mustangs playing at 2 p.m. in Grand Forks and Central Cass meeting their opponent at 4:30 p.m. inside Tharaldson Park — all aiming for state titles. - ➤ UND Hockey has recruited Cole Reschny and Keaton Verhoeff from the Victoria Royals (WHL) to join the team for the 2025-26 season. Reschny is expected to be selected in the first round of the NHL Draft this year while defenseman Verhoeff is a top prospect for the 2026 draft. Valley News Live
