ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 19-year-old man from Gardner was seriously injured in a motorcycle pursuit that ended in a crash five miles outside Hillsboro on May 31 at 9:28 p.m.—troopers said he failed to stop on Interstate 29 and lost control on a curve on Traill County Highway 81.  Valley News Live
  • On Sunday at 12:30 p.m., the Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to a home on Allwood Court where they found a cooking fire that caused moderate kitchen damage and displaced the occupants, who are receiving help from family — no injuries were reported.  Knox News Radio
  • A Kawasaki motorcycle speeding on Interstate 29 near the Mayville exit evaded troopers and, after switching to ND Highway 200A then Traill County Highway 81, failed to handle a curve and crashed into a ditch—its 19-year-old Gardner rider was hurt and airlifted to a local hospital while charges remain pending.  Knox News Radio

CRIME NEWS

  • Grand Forks man Ian Kramchuck (20) was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for a Hobbs Act robbery after pleading guilty to stealing from a business that trades across state lines.  Knox News Radio

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The average price for a gallon of gas in Grand Forks is between $2.78 and $2.79, which is lower than North Dakota's $2.91 and the national $3.09—three cents down from last month and 33 cents lower than last year.  Knox News Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • Grand Forks Public Health urged residents to check their vaccination records after measles cases were confirmed in the county on May 26 — officials reported no signs of community spread.  Knox News Radio
  • North Dakota colleges are advised to review campus health policies after measles cases in Burke and Grand Forks brought the state total to 29—Department of Health and Human Services added new exposure sites in Crosby—and campuses discussed safety measures ahead of upcoming summer youth camps.  Knox News Radio

  • NDSU Baseball ended their season on Sunday when they lost in a walk-off elimination game to Creighton 11-10—after erasing a 10-3 deficit. Davis Hamilton and Dante Smith shined with key hits—helping the team notch their second NCAA Tournament win in school history.  Valley News Live
