- ➤ Alison Cruz launched 209 House — a transitional home offering safety and support for women needing a fresh start in Grand Forks — that accepts women in recovery who have been sober for 30 days, with room for eight residents to stay up to a year. Cruz has funded most of the project with her own money and community donations, honoring her late friend Shayna Jo Dubois. Valley News Live

- ➤ District Judge Daniel Narum denied former Cass County deputy Carson Quam's motion to suppress evidence from a March 11 home search—where officers seized 8 devices including phones and a laptop—after the state showed probable cause, and Quam now faces 10 counts of child pornography possession. - ➤ Yaroslav Riazanov, a 27-year-old Ukrainian who has worked trucking and construction in Fargo, will lose his work authorization in mid-June when his U4U parolee status changes to temporary protected status (affecting 600 to 800 Ukrainians in North Dakota), which may force him to deplete his savings or return to Ukraine. - ➤ Brandon Dettlaff has been appointed as executive director of the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency by the Industrial Commission and will take over from Dave Flohr—who retires on June 13.
