  • Northlands Rescue Mission in Grand Forks is asking local residents for help with rising service needs — no specific details have been given yet, and more information will come soon.  Knox News Radio

CRIME NEWS

  • The North Dakota Highway Patrol warns drivers that speeding more than 36 mph over the limit will result in a one-week license suspension. For instance, driving 109 mph in a 65 mph zone brings a $190 fine & adds 12 points to the driver's license.  Knox News Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Grand Forks City Council Members Tricia Berg of Ward 3 and Tricia Lunski of Ward 4 will host a joint ward meeting on Tuesday, June 17th at Phoenix Elementary's library—attendees should use Door 1 as the meeting begins at 5:00 p.m.  Knox News Radio
  • North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong visited Grand Forks Tuesday to speak at a summit held at the Energy and Environmental Research Center on the UND campus. He said he was excited to discuss energy technologies that affect every North Dakota citizen — noting the center’s role as a global example.  Knox News Radio
  • The City of Grand Forks is preparing to set closing dates for properties at 575 and 579 South Washington Street—after the city council allowed the Jobs Development Authority to purchase the estates—and they will house the fire marshal’s office near the Central Fire Station on Demers Avenue.  Knox News Radio
  • Grand Forks Fire Chief Gary Lorenz was named Fargo's new fire chief by all five city commissioners after being picked from three candidates. He will be sworn in in July and will replace Fire Chief Steve Dirksen, who retired in May after 36 years — Lorenz has served in Grand Forks since 2018 — and brings 28 years of fire service experience.  Knox News Radio
