- ➤ Charles Dalzell, 46, of St. Thomas tried to retrieve a confiscated firearm from the sheriff’s office days before his arrest by video from Grand Forks County jail at the federal courthouse in Fargo—he is accused of sending an email that threatened a federal official and referenced the shooting death of a Minnesota state representative. - ➤ UND Police reported that off-duty Sheriff Andrew Schneider asked an 18-year-old to pay for a car wash after the teen threw a piece of cheese at his vehicle near UND last year—officials said the civil dispute was legally resolved. Valley News Live
- ➤ Kevin Anderson, 53 from Fort Ransom, was arrested after leading a chase on I-29 across Cass, Traill and Grand Forks Counties on June 18 — he swerved, brake checked and blocked other drivers before officers used spike strips to stop his 2010 Nissan Cube and he now faces 7 charges. - ➤ The Grand Forks Police Department will enforce speed limits during a campaign from July 1 through August 4 to catch motorists driving too fast on city streets, funded by the North Dakota Department of Transportation (extra officers will be deployed for targeted shifts). Knox News Radio
- ➤ More than 100 state and local officials from the Midwest and West, including ND Sen. Tim Mathern from Fargo, are urging the U.S. Senate during a federal budget reconciliation process to end the 45Q tax credits that let companies earn money for capturing carbon from ethanol production — critics say these credits, set in 2008, reward polluters instead of reducing emissions.
