  • On July 4, Sertoma of Greater Grand Forks will hold its 4th of July Festival at Sertoma Park at 34th Street and 11th Avenue from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event will feature a kid’s parade, games, contests and live entertainment and will end with the largest fireworks show at 10:30 p.m. at 20th Street and 47th Avenue—raffle proceeds will support Sertoma Park and other local charitable activities as the club marks 67 years of community service.  Knox News Radio

BUSINESS NEWS

  • On June 16th, a federal court ordered Agridime to pay $103 million in restitution after its Ponzi scheme cost North Dakota investors about $40 million and fined co-founders Joshua Link and Jed Wood over $2 million in total. A North Dakota-led group missed the court deadline to buy the company—and its future remains uncertain.  Knox News Radio

  • A Bismarck man named Ryan Schaf was arrested after fleeing a police stop on June 22 in Grand Forks—officers deployed spike strips that led to his tire coming off, causing him to crash into a planter, and a search of his pickup uncovered syringes and a marijuana joint.  Valley News Live
  • A Minnesota lawyer, 34-year-old Anders Odegaard, was officially disbarred from practicing law in North Dakota after his 2023 conviction for murdering his ex-wife and had been licensed from May 2017 until his license lapsed at the end of 2022 when he did not pay his fee.  Knox News Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bishop John Folda announced the formation of the All Saints Catholic Schools Network to strengthen Catholic education across Grand Forks. Local educator Sara Dudley, principal of St. Michael’s Catholic School, was named the network’s first president — she will keep her role as principal while the network prepares for increased enrollment and shared resources.  Knox News Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A severe weather event on June 20 brought deadly tornadoes, including one in Enderlin that killed three people, along with extreme winds and large hail causing widespread damage—National Weather Service crews in Grand Forks and Bismarck are reviewing photos and data to update damage surveys as additional details emerge.  Valley News Live

  • Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski will lead the official groundbreaking for the Altru Sports Complex on Friday, June 27 at 9 a.m. in the parking lot next to Hugo's Raceway (BMX Track) as representatives from the Park District, Altru Health System, McGough Construction and JLG Architects join city council members at the public event.  Knox News Radio
