EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UND launched the first-ever satellites commissioned in North Dakota on June 23 using SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base, and on June 24 the satellites made their first orbital passes with successful telemetry. Developed with AVS USA, the low Earth orbit satellites will transfer to UND at Odegard Hall once confirmed healthy — boosting the university’s satellite operations capabilities. Valley News Live

- ➤ Traffic on S. Washington St. at 28th Avenue South will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting June 30 as crews work on the left turn lanes with no left turns allowed from 28th Avenue South until July 6. After July 6, northbound traffic will fully reopen while southbound traffic remains restricted — the work is expected to take one month, weather permitting. Knox News Radio
- ➤ Governor Kelly Armstrong visited Enderlin, Hunter, and Page on Wednesday to survey storm damage after dangerous storms caused four deaths. He praised local responders—3700 people lost power Saturday morning with only 300 remaining without electricity—and said the state will request federal aid while working with local officials to secure more funding. - ➤ The North Dakota Housing Finance Agency announced that two Grand Forks groups will receive Helping HAND grants — Red River Valley Community Action will get $30,882 and Red River Valley Habitat for Humanity will get $4,000.
