CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Barnes County man named William Smith was arrested in Oriska on terrorizing charges after a woman reported he threatened to shoot her ex-husband and caused a scene by throwing a wedding ring at her car, blocking her exit with a shelf, and grabbing keys — Smith denies the shooting threat and faces charges including DUI, theft, and drug offenses. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski broke ground for the Altru Sports Complex Friday morning near the Alerus Center — the new facility will have indoor turf and aquatic services and is expected to be fully operational by fall 2027. Several dignitaries attended the groundbreaking which marked years of planning. Knox News Radio
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Tribal officials said residents on the Spirit Lake Reservation have been told not to drink local water since late May because manganese levels were dangerously high. Crews will start flushing the water system Monday and officials expect the water to be safe by mid-August. Valley News Live
