At 11:39 p.m. on July 10, a 47-year-old Grand Forks driver lost control of his 2017 Ford Edge near the Grand Forks Country Club—striking a fixed object and dying at the scene—while local agencies responded and are investigating the crash.

Rick and Connie Whittier from Lidgerwood have had their 108 fish decoys chosen for a Smithsonian exhibit celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

They will travel to Washington, D.C. this fall for a meet and greet—then return in the spring for a decoy-making demonstration as the exhibit runs from August 22nd through September 7th.

UND police patrol commander Daniel Weigel and Bismarck Deputy Chief Jason Stugelmeyer have been named finalists to succeed retiring Chief Dave Draovich–a five-member panel will interview them and recommend one candidate to the city commission on July 22nd.

NDHP Trooper Brandon Wade, a University of North Dakota graduate, was named the 2024 Trooper of the Year by the North Dakota Motor Carriers Association.

He served in Motor Carrier Operations since graduating from the NDHP Academy in 2009—working in Devils Lake until 2018 and transferring to Jamestown in 2019, he completed 730 commercial vehicle inspections in 2024.
