- ➤ The 2025 Red River Valley Fair ended the 10 Best Days of Summer with 143,740 guests, making it the second-highest attendance in its history. It featured a record-breaking Lauren Daigle concert on July 13 that drew 12,800 people — the largest concert crowd at any fair — and launched a new Dirt Series, with the 2026 fair set to run from July 3 to 12. - ➤ Grand Forks voice teacher Maria Kennedy is fighting a rare autoimmune disorder that brings severe pain and keeps her in an unsafe, inaccessible home. - ➤ The Grand Forks School Board turned down a tax incentive for the proposed $38 million, 155-unit apartment development on South 17th Street but said it is open to talks on a Payment in Lieu of Taxes incentive, which the city council approved in June while the county commission put its decision on hold. - ➤ Grand Forks Deputy Fire Chief Brian Geatz is serving as the interim fire chief, filling the role after Gary Lorenz left for Fargo’s fire chief position—Geatz has worked at the fire department since 2005 and became deputy in February. Knox News Radio
- ➤ Two North Dakota tribes—Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and Spirit Lake Nation—and tribal citizens asked the U.S. Supreme Court to keep the state’s legislative district map in place while it reviews their lawsuit alleging that the 2021 redistricting diluted Indigenous votes. A district court ruled the map discriminatory in 2023 but the 8th Circuit later reversed the decision, and the Court’s review may affect future redistricting. Knox News Radio
