Crews responded to a vehicle fire at a home in Rhinehart Township in East Grand Forks on Wednesday night just before 5 p.m.—they contained the blaze before it spread, with no injuries, further damage, or a reported cause and the burning vehicle set for scrapping.

A Grand Forks officer recognized Jeremy Suedel, 42, with two active district warrants and when he fled near 1100 4th Ave North, multiple patrol units set up a perimeter and, with the homeowner’s consent, searched a residence on the 1100 block of 5th Ave North—officers located and arrested him in the basement before taking him to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.

Grand Forks city officials are reviewing plans to bring the airport under city management—details remain limited as discussions are in their early stages.

Independent ranchers sued Gov. Kelly Armstrong and private groups alleging they have too much influence over who is appointed to the Beef Commission board, which uses checkoff fees from cattle sales to fund beef promotion and research.

The board—comprising three beef producers, one cattle feeder, one dairy farmer, one livestock market representative and three at-large members—raised about $1.67 million last year.
