The Grand Forks Police arrested a man with outstanding warrants when officers surrounded the Winterland Apartments on 5th Avenue North over the weekend — he came out of his apartment and was taken into custody without further incident.

Grand Forks police arrested a 51 aged woman, Shiela Otto, for DUI after stopping her vehicle near North 55th Street when officials saw it swerving and speeding above the limit — court records show her blood alcohol level was .224 and this was her third DUI charge since 2023.

Lane closures on eastbound 13th Avenue South start today — reducing the road to one lane between University Drive and 10th Street South and closing it between 4th Street South and 5th Street South — to allow for concrete pavement repairs.

Drivers will detour to 14th Avenue South for up to 10 days.

The Grand Forks County Commission is reviewing a budget that requires county departments to cut spending by 1 to 3% so property taxes do not rise, while also addressing the state’s new cap on tax increases; proposals from a mid-July meeting will be discussed at a special meeting this week.
