Grand Forks will host its first Pride Parade downtown Sunday, September 14—beginning at 11 a.m. Organizers plan to celebrate the community’s diversity with the event.

Several new laws passed by the state legislature will go into effect on August 1, and they will change rules for classrooms, highways, and online age checks for explicit content.

The law will ban cell phones in schools from the start of the day to dismissal, raise interstate speeds to 80 mph, launch a Feather Alert system for missing persons, and triple the property tax credit to $1,600 a year — state officials said the Legacy Fund will cover relief costs.

Today the U.S. Supreme Court froze North Dakota’s legislative district map amid a redistricting lawsuit brought by Spirit Lake Nation, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and three tribal citizens—an order that stops an appellate court's ruling until a final decision is reached and keeps open the right for voters in seven 8th Circuit states to sue under the Voting Rights Act.
