  • Energy Transfer asked a North Dakota judge to stop Greenpeace from counter-suing in the Netherlands after a March jury verdict ordered the group to pay over $660 million for defamation—Greenpeace said the company aims to punish its opposition to the pipeline project.  Knox News Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Grand Forks School Board will meet in August to review a new five-year plan covering 2026—2030 as its current strategy ends this year. The board will focus on future priorities including student wellbeing.  Knox News Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Several state laws passed by the 69th Legislative Assembly will take effect August 1 when schools will ban cell phones during classes and allow only school-issued devices for learning (for students with medical needs or individual education plans). The interstate speed limit will increase from 75 to 80 mph (in most areas).  Knox News Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • The North Dakota State Fire Marshal’s Office urged long-term care providers, families and caregivers to follow oxygen safety rules after a fire in a Massachusetts assisted living facility killed 10 residents earlier this month. The office said users should avoid smoking—keep oxygen away from heat sources and use only approved equipment to store cylinders upright.  Knox News Radio
