🚨 Crime
Two people were arrested in Grand Forks after officers executed search warrants on July 24 that uncovered drugs at 908 South 18th Street and at a stash house on 1507 6th Avenue North; Jesus Perez was charged with four counts of possession with intent to deliver or manufacture along with one count for possession of fentanyl, and Erika Perez was charged with four conspiracy counts for possession with intent to deliver or manufacture (the warrants also led to the seizure of cocaine, THC edibles, and methamphetamine).
A Grand Forks man was sentenced to 12 years for smuggling fentanyl into the jail by hiding it in his court paperwork + the drug caused two inmates to overdose and be hospitalized after the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force investigated on December 2nd.

City officials in Grand Forks announced that residents may drop off storm-damaged tree branches at the landfill for free until the end of Tuesday, August 5 — the free service will end when the day closes.
North Dakota’s Tourism Department is paying $100,000 + entering a two-year partnership with country music duo Tigirlily Gold to boost tourism; officials say the deal ends Jan 31.
The duo debuted their new anthem 'Call It Home' at North Dakota Country Fest on July 10 + more events may be scheduled in the future.

North Dakota has confirmed 36 measles cases in 2025 with most occurring between late April and May and one travel-related case on July 2—none of which involved vaccinated individuals—while officials say the current 90% immunization rate is below the 95% needed for herd immunity.
