🏈 Sports
Both Grand Forks boys tennis teams won their opening matches Friday as Central beat West Fargo 6-3 and the Roughriders defeated Valley City 7-2, while Red River won its singles match 3-6 and swept the doubles — the teams play today at West Fargo Sheyenne and Wahepton.
The Thompson Tommies opened their football season with a 39-0 win over May-Port-C-G Friday night.
Sophomore quarterback Dex Advem threw four touchdown passes + rushed for 114 yards, and the team will play next at Hillsboro-Central Valley on Friday.
UND Football players Johnnie Wiltshire and Avery Scott face uncertainty after a court granted the NCAA’s stay request — affecting teammates David Neuberger and Jy Martin until preliminary injunctions are heard — and the team will play LIU this Thursday.
