🎓 Education
Several East Grand Forks Public Schools students sheltered inside on Thursday afternoon when tornado sirens activated because of hail — staff confirmed the false alarm and students returned to class for a normal day.
🌲 Environment
The EPA has proposed to fully approve North Dakota’s regional haze plan, reversing a 2024 partial rejection, and a 30-day public comment period will begin after its publication in the Federal Register.
🏈 Sports
Red River secured a 1-0 win over Central in a lightning-delayed Cushman Cup soccer match on Thursday.
The win moved them to 11 league points (tied for third in the Eastern Dakota Conference) and they will host Shanley Tuesday while Central plays in West Fargo.
Shanley defeated Mandan in today's high-scoring contest that lifted their record to 2-0 & showcased strong local sports talent.
On Thursday, Sacred Heart overcame a first-set loss to win 3-1 over Hillcrest Academy (21-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-14) as Lexi Lawrence led with 20 kills and Finley Horken scored 36; the team is 2-0 after a win at Kittson County Central and will face Ada-Borup/West Tuesday.
The fall ice time at Blue Line Club Arena in East Grand Forks will start later due to a cooling pump failure, with city officials rescheduling the Blue Line Club & Northern Lights Figure Skating Club rentals to begin Sept.
21 at prorated fees.
