- ➤ Northlands Rescue Mission will host the Grand Forks Community Vision Awards & Banquet on October 16 at The Pearl Events Center, with auction viewing and hors d'oeuvres starting at 5:00 p.m. and a plated dinner with awards beginning at 7:00 p.m.; the event honors local volunteers, businesses and partners who have shown kindness and dedication to human services. - ➤ Dmytro Somkin and his wife Kseniia Somkina left Ukraine during the war and sang duets at a fundraiser for Ukrainian families under the Uniting for Ukraine program in North Dakota—thanking Americans for their support. Their opportunity to stay remains uncertain as they continue to build a new life here. Knox News Radio

- ➤ North Dakota set a record for tornadoes in 2025 when the NWS confirmed 20 tornadoes touched down in central areas on September 14, raising the total to 80—surpassing the previous record of 61 set in 1999. Valley News Live

- ➤ City Administrator Todd said the under-construction Altru Sports Complex will use about $483,000 for water, sewer and earth works. The city and Altru signed a naming rights agreement — donations of $500,000 from the late Jim Fristad and $75,000 from J.R. Simplot are also helping fund the project. Knox News Radio
