- ➤ The University of North Dakota reported a record fall enrollment on Census Day with 15,844 students, surpassing the previous record of 15,250 set in 2012—this count includes over 15,800 students at the Grand Forks campus. Knox News Radio
- ➤ The University of North Dakota held a groundbreaking last week for its new STEM Complex—a $163 million two-phase project that will boost science and technology learning. The project will offer modern labs and workspaces to help students and researchers. Knox News Radio

- ➤ Asian Lady Beetles are expected to fly into homes as cooler fall temperatures approach and homeowners who spot one will likely see more—experts advise checking entry points and using a vacuum or insect spray to remove them. Valley News Live
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring warned lawmakers that federal trade and health policies increased farmers’ worries about low commodity prices and high production costs, noting that average farm borrowing is now 12 to 20 times higher than in the 1980s—Rep. Mike Brandenburg added that rising debts could lead bankers to pressure farmers with little equity. Knox News Radio
- ➤ North Dakota legislative leaders said they will hold a special session to plan how to use $500M in rural health funds from the Rural Health Transformation Program. Senate Majority Leader David Hogue announced a new committee on September 25 and the state must submit its proposal by November 5—money cannot cover costs normally handled by insurance.
