- ➤ The Altru Family YMCA will host its annual Hoot ‘n Howl Halloween Bash on October 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 215 North 7th Street in downtown Grand Forks—featuring carnival games, treats, prizes, a costume contest, a bouncy house, and a haunted house for children from preschool to grade 5 who must be accompanied by a parent. - ➤ Gov. Armstrong has named Levi Bachmeier as the new state superintendent of public instruction — he will begin when current superintendent Kirsten Baesler resigns following her U.S. Department of Education confirmation — and he is set to serve until the November 2026 general election. Bachmeier is a West Fargo native who has managed school finances since 2019 and also coaches track. Valley News Live
