- ➤ Last week, hundreds of unmanned aircraft systems experts gathered at the Alerus Center with 750 attendees from 35 states and six countries making it the largest UAS Summit and Expo in its 19th year. BBI International — a Grand Forks-based conference producer — organized the summit where academics, defense leaders and industry players discussed the region's growing role as a hub for unmanned innovation. - ➤ Amid a nationwide skills shortage, North Dakota is boosting career and technical education to help more students earn needed credentials+ Alyssa Martin of the Center for Distance Education said the state is working to reach students who have not been well served by current programs. - ➤ The Grand Forks Border Patrol will hold a winter safety event on November 4 at 11 a.m. CT at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 41059 State Highway 313, Warroad to display vehicles and equipment and to show rescue techniques for harsh border conditions.
