- ➤ The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary will host its Annual Turkey Bingos on November 6, 13, and 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grand Forks County Office building on the 6th floor + each $2 bingo card will help fund projects for disabled veterans and their families. Knox News Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ North Dakotans from Barnes, Cass, Grand Forks, Griggs, Nelson, Steele, or Traill counties may apply for a vacancy on the Board of Public School Education that oversees kindergarten through 12th grade and career and technical education—the selected candidate will serve the remainder of a six-year term ending June 30 while applications are accepted until 5 p.m. on Nov. 28. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ After a Monday morning fire closed the Grand Forks landfill, both the solid waste and inert areas reopened by 11:30 a.m. Monday and officials said the cause remains unknown. Knox News Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Furloughed federal workers in North Dakota have received nearly $1 million in emergency relief loans from state and community banks since the federal government shutdown began. The Bank of North Dakota's program received 77 applications—many from Air Force bases in Grand Forks and Minot as well as Cass and Morton counties. Knox News Radio
- ➤ The Bank of North Dakota announced earlier this month that it is developing its first stablecoin, Roughrider coin, to help with fast money transfers and bank transactions though its use in daily life will come in years. Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said caution is needed—media and constituents have raised concerns and questions about the project. Knox News Radio
