BUSINESS NEWS

  • Thread, formerly known as Airtonomy, is leaving the HIVE business incubator after about five years and owes $4,000 in unpaid rent and a $500,000 loan from the Job Development Authority, with city officials saying the debt is concerning.  Knox News Radio

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Next year, the Big Beautiful Bill will cut crop insurance payouts on local farms, causing concerns among farmers who depend on federal coverage—97% of them—according to the North Dakota Farmers Union.  Valley News Live

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City leaders met Wednesday with law enforcement and nonprofit groups to discuss a shift in where homeless residents take shelter this winter, noting that while NEST low-barrier housing is full, some may stay in parking garages (while extra services are being planned).  Knox News Radio
  • The USDA approved a SNAP waiver on Wednesday that banned sugary drinks and junk food from program purchases in North Dakota starting in September. Gov. Kelly Armstrong said the change is expected to boost health for over 29,000 households — a move to reduce diet-related diseases.  Valley News Live

  • Tonight (5:30 p.m.) at Red River, East Grand Forks will host a basketball double header against Grand Forks Red River. The Greenwave girls (2-0, led by Tatum Votava) and the boys (3-0 after a 26-point win) face teams with 0-2 records.  Knox News Radio
  • The UND men’s basketball team beat Crown College by a score of 89 to 43 on Wednesday night at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, with five players scoring in double figures including George Natsvlishvili (17 points) and Grand Forks native Zach Kraft (11 points).   • Red River and Grafton will face each other tonight at Blue Line Club Iceplex (7:00 PM) as both teams try to bounce back from recent losses; Red River holds a 2-2 record after a 7-3 defeat, while Grafton lost 7-1 in their last game.  Knox News Radio
  • Former UND tight end Jim Kleinsasser (a Carrington native) was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame Tuesday night in Las Vegas, honoring his key role with the Fighting Hawks from 1995 to 1998 and his NFL career with the Vikings.  Valley News Live
