- ➤ An elementary school child was hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run while walking near North 39th Street and Sixth Avenue North Monday around 8 a.m.—the child had a bleeding head wound—and was taken to Altru Hospital while police investigate the incident with no charges filed. Grand Forks Herald

- ➤ An East Grand Forks man, Vincent Villarreal (32), waived his preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to the murder of his father, Jeffrey Shulzitski (55), whose death from a gunshot wound was ruled a homicide during a hotel incident on December 5, 2020, and he faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole if convicted of Class AA felony murder. - ➤ UND held its 63rd Feast of Nations at the Alerus Center on March 22—more than 1,000 people came to enjoy food, music, and many fancy dresses. The red carpet showed off cultural fashions from different parts of the world—such as Filipino gowns and Native American regalia. Grand Forks Herald

- ➤ Job Service ND, MN Career Force, Leighton Media and JobsHQ are hosting the Grand Cities Spring Job Fair on Thursday, April 10th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks—local employers and the Workforce Center will guide job seekers through available career opportunities. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Monday night, Grand Forks City Council voted six to one to start the bidding process for improving the far southern end of the Greenway between 47th Avenue South and 62nd Avenue South; the upgrades, estimated at $500,000 and set for construction this year, will extend paved trails, improve the fishing area, and add trash cans (a survey from 2023 showed strong local support) to help address public safety concerns. - ➤ The Grand Forks Police Department will enforce distracted driving rules in April (Distracted Driving Awareness Month) with additional officers funded by a ND DOT grant to target violations and impose a $200 fine. Grand Forks Herald
- ➤ North Dakota is moving closer to offering blackout license plates as officials consider a new plan—drivers may soon have the option for a sleeker design if the proposal is approved. Details on the implementation and final approval are expected to be announced soon. Valley News Live
