CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jeffrey Simpson Jr. was sentenced Wednesday afternoon to 25 years in prison on charges including attempted murder following a March 2024 shootout with officers at an apartment complex in Grand Forks—no one was injured. Valley News Live
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The state House passed Senate Bill 2241 to let public charter schools operate with their own governing boards while following public school rules—schools must meet performance benchmarks set by the Department of Public Instruction, cannot charge tuition or teach a religious curriculum, and will receive about $8,160 per student in state funding for 2024-25.
